The Institute for Communication & Dignity (ICD) examines communication and social systems based on their function and their effects on people.
We combine scientific analysis, institutional practice and human experience. Our aim is to identify barriers and structural relationships and to develop solutions for clear, accessible and dignified communication and participation.
The human being is the point of reference. Human dignity is the boundary. The system is the tool.
Research & Analysis
We examine communication, social structures and institutional processes according to their function and their actual effects on people.
In doing so, we combine empirical research, interdisciplinary perspectives and documented experiences. We consider not only individual processes, but also their interfaces, chains of effects and their connection to the system as a whole.
Our analyses provide a scientifically grounded basis for social, institutional and organisational decisions and change.
Consulting & Development
We support policymakers, public administrations, institutions and organisations in examining and further developing communication, structures and processes from the perspective of their function and effects.
On this basis, we develop strategies, standards and practical solutions for clear and accessible communication, barrier-reduced processes and effective interfaces between people and systems.
Participation & Accessibility
Participation means to us that people are genuinely able to exercise their existing rights and access the opportunities available to them in society.
Where this is made more difficult, we do not begin by asking what a person lacks. We examine which barriers arise, what prerequisites a system imposes and whether these are actually necessary for its function.
We therefore understand accessibility as a structural quality of shared social spaces and systems.
